In such cases, Labay/Summers is designated as the “ Notify Party “ on bills of lading and airwaybills for the purpose of processing and releasing documents to U.S. consignees and / or their Customs Brokers in the U.S.
With shipments moving on a “ Freight Collect “ basis, Labay/Summers obtains payment of the collect freight from the consignee or the Customs Broker of the consignee and immediately remits the funds to the foreign agent. As a destination agent, Labay/Summers is able to ensure the foreign freight forwarder has agency representation in the U.S.
