Single Transaction Bonds (Activity 1) and Continuous Bonds (Activity 1) are the most common U.S. Customs bonds utilized by importers and other parties associated importing into the United States.
Other activity classifications (both common and uncommon) of Single Transaction Bonds and Continuous Bonds are:
Activity 1a - Bond for Drawback Payment Refunds
Accelerated Drawback - This bond allows the importer to immediately collect a refund of U.s. Customs dutdies paid before Customs makes a determination as to the validity of the claim.
Same Condition Drawback - This bond covers drawback procedures where goods are imported into the United States, duty is paid and the product is not altered in any way with subsequent export from the United States. By posting a bond, the importer can claim a refund of the duties paid to U.S. Customs.
Activity 2 - Custodian of Bonded Merchandise
This type of bond is required by U.S. Customs for bonded warehouses, container freight stations, bonded cartment and bonded carriers.
Activity 3 - International Carrier
This bond is required for the clearance of foreign flag or foreign registered vessels or aircraft arriving from outside the United States.
